Electric Furnaces / Electric Air Handlers — Installation & Replacement

Simple, all-electric heat with clean, quiet operation. An electric furnace (air handler with heat strips) delivers warm air through your existing ducts—no gas line, no flue. It pairs well with central AC or a heat pump for year-round comfort.

How it works (simple)

Inside the air handler, electric heat strips warm the air as the ECM blower moves it through the ductwork. Heat is instant and even; controls can stage the heat so it ramps up smoothly instead of blasting all at once.

Types & options

• Air handler + heat strips (most common): 5–20 kW, single- or multi-stage for smoother comfort.
• Variable-speed blower (ECM): quieter starts, better airflow, improved filtration.
• Add-ons: high-capacity media filters, smart thermostat, whole-home humidifier (where appropriate).

When it’s a good fit

• No natural gas available, or you’re going all-electric
• Replacing an old electric furnace/air handler
• Pairing with a heat pump (strips serve as backup/aux heat)
• Tight indoor spaces where a flue isn’t practical

Note on operating cost: Electric heat is 100% efficient at the unit, but monthly cost depends on local electric rates and how well ducts are sealed. We’ll review both during the visit.

2. Options & pricing after the visit: kW sizing, staging, blower type, accessories.
3. Permits & scheduling.
4. Professional install & start-up: dedicated circuits, clean wiring, airflow set, safety/temperature checks.
5. Inspection & handoff: walkthrough, filter size, simple maintenance tips.
