Duct Removal—Safe Demo, Disposal & Make-Ready

Remove outdated ductwork the right way. Whether you’re converting to mini-splits, remodeling, or replacing damaged runs, we disconnect, remove, and dispose of ducts safely—then leave the space ready for new work.

When duct removal makes sense

  • Switching to ductless/zoned systems or relocating equipment
  • Damaged/contaminated ducts (rodents, smoke, mold) not worth repairing
  • Remodels where ducts block framing/ceiling lines or reduce headroom
  • Old layouts with undersized returns or noisy, kinked flex

What’s included

  • On-site assessment of trunks, takeoffs, returns, and register boxes
  • Clean disconnection at equipment and branches; stubs capped/plated
  • Removal & disposal of flex/metal ducts and old insulation (jobsite kept tidy)
  • Seal & make-safe: close open penetrations, air-seal chases, label live utilities
  • Optional: new duct design/installation, grille relocation, attic air-sealing & insulation

Safety & compliance

We protect finishes, isolate work areas, follow clearance rules around gas/electrical/flues, and document the job with photos. If suspect materials are present, we pause and bring in licensed testing.

Sub-service: Asbestos Ducting Removal (Licensed Abatement)

Some older homes used asbestos-cement (transite) ducts or asbestos wraps/mastics on metal ducts. We coordinate licensed asbestos testing and abatement and handle the HVAC side end-to-end.

How it works (coordinated):

  1. Site visit: map runs and plan safe access.
  2. Licensed testing (if indicated): samples to a certified lab.
  3. Abatement by licensed contractor: containment, negative air, safe removal, proper disposal manifests, clearance.
  4. HVAC make-ready: cap/plate openings, seal penetrations.
  5. Replacement options: new R-8 insulated ducts, balanced airflow, quieter grilles.
