Wall Vents — Installation & Replacement

Clean exhaust and fresh air, without leaks or rattles. We install and replace exterior wall vents/louvers for bath fans, dryers, kitchen hoods, make-up/fresh-air intakes, and utility rooms—sized, sealed, and flashed to keep water out and airflow up.

What we install

  • Bath/utility exhaust hoods with backdraft dampers
  • Dryer terminations (no screens, low-resistance flapper) and smooth metal duct to code
  • Kitchen hood wall caps (grease-rated, backdraft damper)
  • Fresh-air/make-up air inlets with filtered hoods
  • Combustion air and equipment room vents (where required)
  • Materials: galvanized/aluminum or powder-coated steel, pest guards where allowed

Why it matters

  • Better airflow & quieter fans with the right size and low-resistance caps
  • Weather-tight penetrations: proper flashing, slope, and sealants prevent rot and staining
  • Code-compliant terminations for dryers and hoods reduce fire risk and lint buildup

Installation process

  1. On-site assessment — confirm fan/duct size, run length, location, and clearances.
  2. Vent selection & written pricing after the visit — hood style, damper type, finish/color.
  3. Core drilling & sleeve — correct pitch outward, fire-stop or rated sleeve where required.
  4. Set, flash, and seal — mount hood, integrate flashing, UV-rated sealants, interior trim ring.
  5. Test & verify — airflow check, damper operation, weatherproofing review; photo documentation.

Special notes

  • Dryers: smooth metal duct, minimal elbows, labeled length; no screens at the cap.
  • Kitchen hoods: match CFM/duct size; add make-up air where code requires.
  • Fresh air: use filtered hoods and screened inlets; position to avoid exhaust re-entrainment.
