Residential Fire Alarms — Installation, Replacement & Testing

Early warning saves lives. We install and replace code-compliant, interconnected smoke and CO alarms so your home alerts everyone—everywhere—when seconds matter. A licensed electrician handles placement, wiring, and testing.

What we install

  • Hardwired alarms with battery backup (required in most homes)
  • Interconnected (wired or wireless link): if one sounds, they all sound
  • Smoke + CO combos where fuel-burning appliances or attached garages are present
  • Photoelectric smoke sensors (better for smoldering fires; fewer false alarms in kitchens/halls)
  • 10-year sealed batteries for backup and low-maintenance
  • Smart alarms (optional): app alerts, self-tests, hush features

Where alarms go (typical)

  • Inside every bedroom
  • Outside each sleeping area (hallway)
  • On every level, including basement
  • Near the kitchen, but not right over cooking appliances (to avoid nuisance trips)

We follow NFPA 72 and local code for spacing, ceiling height, and mounting.

Our process

  1. On-site assessment: walk the home, check existing locations, power, and interconnects
  2. Options & written pricing after the visit: standard vs. smart, smoke-only vs. combo smoke/CO
  3. Professional installation: correct boxes, solid terminations, labeling, and interconnect testing
  4. Commissioning: sound test, hush functions, CO test (where applicable), user walkthrough
  5. Documentation: locations map and simple maintenance schedule

Maintenance & safety

  • Test monthly, vacuum sensors twice a year, replace units every 10 years (CO sensors 5–10 years by model)
  • Keep alarms at least 10 ft from cooking appliances; use photoelectric near kitchens
  • Combine with fire extinguishers and a family escape plan
